The book speaks of how Paul conveys the Christian community as the temple of God from both Jewish and Greco-Roman background. Usually, Jewish people are easily to understand the idea of the temple-community. However, there is sufficient evidence that Greco-Roman people can also understand the metaphor because they do regard certain temples as sacred places and their profanation are serious. Temple purity points to an eschatological exodus of the Christian community separated from the profane world. God has chosen his people to be the living temple and he will complete the temple construction with his mighty works.
