Great introduction to puberty   (2011-09-10)

This book is a lovely introduction for any young girl about to enter puberty, or even entering puberty. It's a refreshing change from many other books that are either full of biological terms that are confusing and overwhelming AND it doesn't talk about sex or boyfriends. Instead focussing on just being a young girl getting her period. It's what I'd call a safe book. Any parent could easily pass this book onto their daughter confident that isn't going to deal with issues such as sex. And frankly, when girls as young as 8 and 9 are getting their periods, they don't want to know about sex, they are still dealing with just getting their period.

It's fun to read the words the young girls come up with for menstrual products and a few other funny moments make this book a good read.

My only criticism is that its a little short. I felt the character could've had more adventures and more discussion around puberty. I look forward to any future books the author writes as this is a genre that is often overlooked for young people.
