Layout: First part (fols. 1-13): Written in two columns of 62-69 lines. Second part (fols. 14-195): Written in two columns of 66 lines.
Script: First part: Written in cursiva. Second part: Written in textualis.
Decoration: Second part: First leaf of text (fol. 14r) has full illuminated bar border, also in intercolumnar margin, with ivy motif, and arms of Johannes Grünwalder in the bas-de-page flanked by two griffins and superimposed with a cardinal's hat. 4-line illuminated initials, 3-line pen-flourished initials throughout.
Origin: Composite of two codices. The first part (fols. 1-13) was written in the first half of the 15th century, after 1416, when the text was composed; see note fol. 8v: "Explicit tractatus de ecclesia potestate etc. datum constantie de mense Octobris anno Domini mo cccco xvio sacro concilio generali ibidem tunc existente." The second part (fols. 14-195) was written by Bernardus de Gordono in 1386, in France, commissioned by Miel de Lautrec, Cardinal of St. Eusèbe: "Fuit expletus per me Bernarum de Gordono in Castro de Sancto Frigore die xvia mensis Marcii anno Domini Mo ccco lxxxvio."
