I LOVE this book - and I know I am biased because this is a journal written by my Great-grandfather! He came across the ocean from Norway I believe in 1869. It is rich with the heritage of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and God's protection as he traveled and made his way to establish a new home in America. He was the first of his family to come over, with the idea that the others would follow. He was a young man and completely on his own - but he relied on God, and he established quite a legacy for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and now great-great grandchildren to follow. But what a great read for those who are interested in the people that came to Wisconsin from Norway; and I think he was fairly typical of the kind of people that settled in the area. I still have some direct relatives that live inthe area: Ron Olson - son of Norman C. Olson (Grandson of John Holt - whose mother was Minnie Mae, married to Helmer Olson); and my nephew Dave Olson (Grandson of Norman Olson); and Jocelyn Olson Myers (also Grandaughter of Norman Olson, and daughter of Ron Olson; and her children); as well as Caleb Olson (son of Ron Olson, Grandson of Norman Olson).- they all live in Wisconsin. A real piece of history - not watered down by another person's perspective or re-written to fit some politically correct agenda.
