The fifth edition of Garriott's Medicolegal Aspects of Alcohol has maintained the excellence of the earlier editions and will still be of enormous value to the practicing medicolegal professional. Dr. James Garriott has managed to obtain chapters in the book written by some of the world's top experts in this field including, A.W. Jones, Bruce Goldberger, Yale Caplan, Patrick Harding, Bob Zettl, Kurt Dubowski. and Rod Gullberg. The chapters include Pharmacology and Toxicology of Ethyl Alcohol, Methods for Breath Analysis, Analysis for Alcohol in Postmortem Specimens, and Alcohol Effects and Driving Impairment.
There are also chapters written by well-qualified US lawyers on Prosecution and Defence of Alcohol and Impaired Driving cases. There is also a concise, well written chapter by Rod Gullberg of Statistical Applications in Forensic Toxicology.
The book has numerous Figures, Graphs and Tables and numerous cited referencesand is well organized and edited.
Unfortunatley Dr. James Garriott passed away in 2009 and it is hoped that any future editions of the book will be continued with the same high standards.
