Readable and well researched

Janet Whitney's book is thoroughly researched and a delight to read. She takes the liberty of recreating scenes from Elizabeth Fry's life at several points throughout the book, which is something a contemporary biographer would probably not attempt, but these are all well written and based on footnoted...
