This is one of the books that reflects George Malaty's Pedagogy. This pedagogy includes includes the idea of the possibility of teaching anything to anybody. This is the same philosophy of Jerome Bruner. The difference here is that for Malaty this is not limited to only philosophical level, but to practices in teaching mathematics to anybody. This book presents a way of moving from numbers to variables of numbers in early years of education. The book is an outcome of Malaty's work by himself in teaching mathematics in first mathematical clubs established by him in Finland.
Despite the fact that the book is built on well done strategies of teaching, there is difficulty in understanding the whole book unless the reader has a good command in Finnish. Hopefully he or somebody else can translate it into English.
