Description: Doug Varone and Dancers will be performing Alchemy, an original piece paying homage to all victims who, in the face of violence and cruelty, courageously reveal the dignity and beauty of humanity, including Daniel Pearl, the American Jewish reporter kidnapped and murdered by Islamic extremists in Pakistan in 2002. Alchemy was inspired by Steve Reich's Daniel Variations, as well as the biblical Book of Daniel. Below are recordings of works by Steve Reich, as well as information on Daniel Pearl and the Book of Daniel.
